Well yesterday morning when I wrote that I had a "bit of a headache" I had no idea what I was in for. OMG. I was STARVING all day long and had a temple-throbbing headache most of the day. Until about 5:30 pm when it turned into a blinding headache. I ate my dinner (I swear to God, cabbage, turkey and an apple NEVER looked so good to me. It may as well have been pizza.) and went to bed at 8pm.
This morning is better. I keep waiting for the headache but so far (knocking on wood) none has appeared. I feel weak and lethargic and really hungry but no headache is a major step in the right direction. :-)
AND getting on the scale always keeps me motivated. Today I am 199.8. Yay! Out of the 200's FOREVER and that is 6.4 lbs lost in 3 days. Very cool.

HCG - Day 4
OK, Day 4. This morning I have a bit of a headache and I feel really weak. BUT I lost 4 lbs. Yesterday I was 206.2 and today 202.2. So you take the good with the bad I guess. I think the headache has more to do with my withdrawal from sugar, alcohol and carbs than anything else.
I discovered yesterday that I really like Fuji apples. I really wish I could have cream in my coffee.

HCG - Day 3
OK, today is the first "real" day of my HCG therapy. Today, I injected the HCG at about 8am and went back to bed for a little bit. Then I had cup of black coffee with Stevia, chamomile tea and lots of water for breakfast.
For lunch and dinner I get 4 ounces of lean meat, a large handful of vegetables and an apple or some strawberries. This will be my diet for the next 30 days.
I'm feeling a little light-headed this morning but I'm trying to take it easy and drink lots of tea and water.
HCG - Days 1-2
So HCG therapy is something that was discovered and written about in a protocol by an Italian doctor, Simeone. Essentially you inject pregnant lady hormone and follow a diet that my neighbor describes as that of "a Chinese peasant."
To prepare for this treatment, I had a whole panel of blood tests run and discovered that my thyroid is totally out of whack. Evidently the usual treatment for hyperthyroid people involves Synthroid which effects only the T4. The T3 seems to be the one that you want to get in line because it supports us more metabolically. Unfortunately Cytomel, the drug that treats T3 is expensive and not normally prescribed. But don't even try to tell me that I can't have my Cytomel.
The first two days of the treatment, I injected myself with HCG. Right into my belly fat. It doesn't really hurt at all - just stings a tiny bit after the injection. Then for two days, I get to eat whatever I want. I'm instructed to gorge myself in fact. Yay! So, gorge I did. Crab legs, champagne, butter, cheesecake, Orange Chicken, Mai Tai's, double cheeseburgers, pound cake, ei yi yi.
I felt fine but at the end of the second day I just felt gross and ready to get on with it. So let's get on with it!
Once Again...
And so it begins. I'm 42 years old and have battled my weight since my first year of college when I discovered alcohol. And fast food. Genetically I think I am predisposed as they say because my mother was heavy even as a child. She has been on Weight Watchers since 1970 and growing up I thought that all spaghetti sauce was made with Sweet N Low.
In 2005, I got to 230 lbs, my heaviest and went on a year long diet and exercise program with a nutritionist and trainer and lost 60 lbs. Once I hit my plateau at 170 lbs, I stopped exercising and ate and drank like a normal person and promptly gained back 36 lbs.
This blog is to document my latest (and hopefully last) weight loss effort through HCG therapy. 30 lbs in 30 days is the goal so hang on. It's going to be a wild ride!
